My guess is some dragon... perhaps Smaug? (Or however his name is spelled)
I'm lost on that one, but I'd agree with Hope (wait, when did you change your name to Kelpie?) that it's a dragon; I was thinking Eustice from Chronicles of Narnia when he is turned into a dragon for a little while.
Eustice had crossed my mind too... but I wasn't exactly sure about the paranoia part. Are you going to tell us Faith?
