About Us

Hello, and welcome to L.A.R.K! We are a group of young writers sharing our stories and other writings with each other in hopes of not only sharpening our skills, but also encouraging one another and glorifying our Heavenly Father. We would also like to share our writings with you! Feel welcome to comment and participate in the occasional challenges. Enjoy!

My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. - Psalm 45:1

Meet the Authors

About Grace:
I'm a small town girl from a Christian family of eleven (six brothers!!!). My family has adopted out of foster care twice and have had many adventures which prove to be excellent inspiration.

In general, most people see me as quiet or shy, but I've got a huge imagination I love to put into writing. My family likes to tease me about my toes that used to talk to each other as well as pieces of pencil lead that used to come to life in my fingers. Now I prefer to breathe life into blank pages and characters.

My interests besides writing include reading, vocal music, sketching, and cake decorating. (You can hop on over to my cake blog here). I also love teaching my preschool Sunday School class. Preschoolers have crazy imaginations, which I tend to relate well to :) When it comes to reading, I prefer fantasy books, but I also enjoy historical fiction and mystery. My favorite book series include Dragons in Our MidstThe Wingfeather Saga, and The Blood of Kings Trilogy.

When it comes to writing, I also prefer allegories and fantasy, and most of my writings are short stories. I have completed one book and am working on a second. Someday, I do hope to publish them. My ultimate goal for my writing is for kids and whoever else may read them to know that God loves and treasures them and will never forsake them.

About Josie:
Well, first off, the most important person in my life is Jesus Christ!  I am extremely blessed to have been raised in a Godly family who introduced me to Christ!
My family includes: Pa and Ma (yes, that's what I call them =D ), four older sisters, two brothers-in-law, a nephew, and a niece.

My favorite thing to do is read!!  =D  Other favorite activities include riding horses when I get the chance, checking fields in the cool of the morning, playing football with my sisters, being around my family, writing, cross-stitching, knitting, playing cello with my sisters in our quintet, doodling (=P), and being outside!
My favorite smells ever are freshly mowed grass, harvesting (anything, but corn is best, just because of the memories it brings back), and chocolate chip cookies baking!
I've always thought it would be really neat to be a published author, but I don't know if that will ever happen or not!  It would have to be like a collection of short stories or something, because I can never get enough length for even a short book!  =P

About Faith:
I have several hobbies that I pursue such as
playing the piano, photography, writing (of course), reading, and socializing.  While I do not know whether I am proficient at those or not I enjoy each one of them and have had the chance to use some of them to serve my Lord and to serve others.  One of my greatest passions is disciplining pre-teens and teenage girls in topics from the Bible, especially purity.

I once took a quiz that told me I was like Prince Caspian off of Narnia.  Perhaps I am.  I have no clue.  But I find that random fact rather humorous.  So, what am I like?  I can be stubborn, impulsive, authoritative, blunt, and compassionate (okay, so, that really does not go along with blunt, does it?).  I want to help people, but I get frustrated with people who are not willing to help themselves.  While I am usually a good sport, persistent teasing can depress me (even though I am very good at dishing it back out).  I get defensive of people close to me when they are belittled or made fun of.

I have no great desire to be published.  While that could change in the future, it is doubtful.  However, I love reading a story that I feel I have really done a good job on.  It gives a great feeling of accomplishment.

About Kelpie:

I am a country girl with an imagination that never grew up, thus my love of writing. I enjoy creating stories of my own but even more, I am fascinated by the lives of those who surround me. I hope some day to write a true book, including some of these.

I get teased about being shy but I think that most who really know me understand I am not. Often I do not speak for the simple reason that I have nothing to say. I get so caught up in observing those around me I often forget that I myself can become part of the conversation by adding my own thoughts.

Probably the only thing I can claim expertise for is reading. Reading has been my major hobby since I learned how to sound out the word “The”. Apart from that and writing I enjoy dabbling in: photography, drawing, gardening, Herbology, history, knitting, jewelry making, piano, violin, music, survival/preping, general crafting, Biology (especially Marine), Zoology (anything having to do with animals), Botany, Earth Science, Ecology, etc. (if you can't tell I love science) If you wish to read more about me, especially my craft creations visit my personal blog.

  2. Hi Bethany! Welcome to LARK! Most of us prefer not to share much personal info online, but I will tell you that most of us are from different places and are different ages. However, we are all contry/ish or small town girls who have been previously homeschooled at some point (Correct me Kelpie if I'm wrong). We all love Jesus and love writing. I'm so happy that you've found our blog. Please feel free to leave comments and questions and join in on our challenges.
