Never, ever, ever, ever, use the word "very" unless you absolutely have to. It means nothing except a little more punch that should be expressed in the word it modifies rather than in an extra adverb. The end! (sorry, I think writing a story for Grace has sapped all my writing energy. Or perhaps just time. ;) )
