Tip Tuesday

I have to admit that I don't have a tip today.  Oops.  However, I do have a question for you:  what person(s) have influenced your writing the most?  The answer could be authors, friends, family members, or whoever.

  1. I have to say that this blog has probably been my number one biggest influence. It provided incentive to write, feedback (when my fellow authors were kind enough to give it), and tips from other perspectives.

Another highly influential person is my sister. Without growing up around someone (really all of my siblings are great writers) who loved writing I probably would never have come up with the idea on my own.

James Herriot's books were also a big influence. I loved his writing style and have often done my best to imitate it (within bounds) though without the same success. ;)

  2. Hmmm...probably my brother has had the greatest influence on me. He's always been willing to read what I've written and given me lots of feedback. Sometimes it would frustrate me the number of marks he'd make, but they have helped me, I must admit.

I have also had several English teachers that have given me tips here and there, and I have found inspiration from authors like Max Lucado and Shannon Dittemore.

  3. And this blog has been a huge part of keeping me writing and not giving up.

  4. Probably one of my biggest influences has been my oldest sister; I loved reading her stories and was always aiming to be able to write as well as her!

    1. Yep! :D I would say the biggest influence for me has been this blog. Before Hope started it, I hardly ever wrote anything. But now, I am forced too. :)

    2. Forced? That's a strong word :)

  6. To be honest Grace I almost used that exact same word... It's pretty accurate. Note though she didn't say "unwillingly forced", so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

  7. But no one is forcing you to do anything. It's not like I have superpowers to jump inside anybody's head :)

    1. Oh my, we are really getting into technical definitions here! You force me to bow to your superior wisdom (or perhaps stubbornness) Grace, and acknowledge you to be in the right.
